Edmonton will keep you busy: from arts and culture to shopping and sports, the choices are endless! Any trip should start with West Edmonton Mall, the world's largest entertainment and shopping complex and home to over eight hundred shops. Beyond shopping, the 48-square-block-large complex offers numerous cinemas, the World Waterpark, an ice arena, an indoor amusement park, sea lions, and a hotel-in case you don't get through everything in one day!
In the Downtown Arts District, you can catch a play at the Citadel, Canada's largest non-profit theatre, check out great Albertan and international art at the Art Gallery of Alberta, or hear for yourself the phenomenal acoustics of the Winspear Centre, home of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. And beyond the high art, Edmonton is buzzing with grassroots and independent art and music. Plus, the Royal Alberta Museum is just one of the many museums that chart Alberta's history. And don't forget about catching an Edmonton Oilers game, or checking out some of the other professional sports teams in town!
After all of that, don't think you need to leave the city to get away from the cityscape. In the heart of Edmonton is the river valley, a lush green belt that is Canada’s largest urban park. Hundreds of kilometers of maintained trails and facilities permit year-round activity: hiking, running, cycling, roller-blading, plus cross-country skiing and ice skating in the wintertime.
